Caleb's 2nd Birthday (Post Nap)

After his birthday nap, Caleb had a late lunch (too many cupcakes that morning). For his birthday lunch, Mike and I cooked one of Caleb’s favorite dishes…Lasagna (a pretty special dish since Mike makes the pasta fresh and I cook the ragu for 2 hours then make the béchamel)!

Then we went to the mall to celebrate Caleb’s birthday with family in “Little Einsteins” style (Caleb LOVES the show “Little Einsteins” so picking this to be the party theme was a no-brainer). First, Caleb rode the train with his cousins 3 times! They all had fun waving at family members spread out throughout the mall calling out “Happy Birthday!” as they rode by.

For dinner, we ate at the Cheesecake Factory where Mom, Tita Patty, and Tito John set up a beautiful party room with “Little Einsteins” balloons and yummy meal selections (check the photos to see)! Every person had a present from Caleb where they sat. Aidan and Caleb’s cousins each received a “Little Einsteins” book and placemat, and each adult received a hand-printed personalized plate from Caleb (when Aidan turned 2, each family member received a hand-printed personalized pasta bowl). After dinner, we sang “Happy Birthday” as Caleb blew out the candles (many times) on his “Little Einsteins” ice cream cake. Needless to say, it was a perfect birthday party! Happy Birthday Caleb! We love you!

Caleb's 2nd Birthday (Morning)

Even though Caleb isn’t in preschool yet, he sure likes to pretend he is. Every time we take Aidan to school, Caleb is always trying to blend in with the rest of the kids so that I will “happen” to forget and leave him there too. Aidan’s teachers always enjoy watching Caleb do this. When it is time to go, I’ll tell him to say good-bye to Aidan and instead he always turns to me and says “Good-bye, Mommy!” Obviously that stunt doesn’t work, so then he runs into the Trans-K classroom where both teachers give him hugs, kisses, and sanctuary in their classroom with their students. Needless to say, he is very much loved by the teachers and kids in the Pre-K wing of the school. So when both classes found out that he would be celebrating his 2nd birthday, they insisted that he come in and celebrate with them in their classrooms.

That birthday morning, Caleb and Yin-Yin baked 40 mini black velvet cupcakes (which were absolutely delish!). Then Caleb, Mom, Tita Patty, and I headed to Aidan’s preschool for some partying with both classes!

When Mike watched the video footage later that evening, he laughed as he watched telling me how funny it was that our little Caleb ended up celebrating the morning of his birthday with a bunch of his 5 year old friends!
